The jail administration came to know about this during the morning count, he added. A resident of Kathikund in Dumka district, Shyamlal had eight criminal cases against him. He was transferred to Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail – an open prison spread over 50 acres and meant for surrendered extremists – from Dumka jail in February 2021.Jail sources said the inmate did not display any signs of depression or any ailment till Friday night. However, questions have been raised as to how he acquired the rope.
