Facing humidity and heat, a Bihar Military Police-3 aspirant fainted in the physical recruitment test on Friday (July 25, 2025), at Bodh Gaya and was allegedly gang raped in an ambulance while on the way to the hospital.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the gang rape caseat Bodh Gaya police station, lodged by the aspirant on July 25, Friday.
The victim had said in her police complaint that she was gang raped by three to four people inside the ambulance, but the police said two people: the driver of the ambulance, Vinay Kumar and the technician on duty, Ajit Kumar, were arrested within two hours of the complaint lodged by the victim.
Bodh Gaya Police station in-charge Manoj Kumar told The Hindu over the phone that “in police investigation yet, only two people were found to be involved in the gang rape, though the victim had charged three-four people. If more people are found involved in the incident in further investigation, they too would be arrested”.

The driver of the ambulance, Vinay Kumar, is from Gaya district, while the technician Ajit Kumar comes from the neighbouring Nalanda district.
The victim BMP-3 aspirant, who was undergoing a physical test for the recruitment, hails from the Imamganj police station area of the Gaya district, bordering Jharkhand.
After she fainted during the physical test on Thursday, July 24, when the weather was hot and humid, she was referred to Anugraha Narayan Medical College and Hospital, a government hospital in Gaya, for further treatment. Though she alleged that she was sexually assaulted inside the ambulance by three-four people, which she realized after gaining consciousness.
The next day, on July 25 (Friday), she gave her statement to the Bodh Gaya police and lodged an FIR. The police swung into action and arrested two persons, Vinay Kumar and Ajit Kumar, within “two hours”. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the ANMCH hospital.
“Soon after the police came to know about the incident, an SIT (Special Investigation Team) was formed, and they arrested two people in the case. CCTV footage and other technical surveillance were monitored by the people members. Further investigation in the case is on in the case”, Senior Superintendent of Gaya Police Anand Kumar told local media persons.
Later reacting over the incident, Leader of Opposition in State Assembly from Rashtriya Janata Dal, Tejashwi Yadav asked in a post on social media on Saturday, July 26, “shall we say this rakshas raj (devil’s regime) in Bihar or the durachar raj (misgovernance / misrule) patronized by criminals? Or, the mahajungle raj (utter lawlessness), or, the misrule of (PM) Modi and chief minister Nitish Kumar”.
“Honour of mothers, sisters, daughters and innocent girls are being looted every day in the democratic rule of Modi and Nitish, but neither any minister or deputy chief minister dares to wag his tongue on the uncontrolled incidents of crime, rape and corruption”, Tejashwi Yadav said further in the post, while, adding, “if the blood of the so-called intellectuals and just people did not boil on such incidents then they should be considered as extreme casteist and discriminatory beings”.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and party MP from Hajipur reserved parliamentary constituency in Bihar, Chirag Paswan, took on the Nitish Kumar-led government in the State and questioned the “functioning of the state police” over the incident.
