Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday (September 11, 2025) complained to the Versova police in Mumbai against Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Sanjay Raut for being an ‘anti-national’ for predicting a Nepal-like situation in India.

The move comes after MP Sanjay Raut commented that the situation prevailing in Nepal today can happen in India too. Mr. Nirupam submitted an appeal to the police to book him for using language of treason and raising a hue and cry against India.
Mr. Nirupam said, “Sanjay Raut had also made anti-national statements by linking the incidents of violence in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to India. Now, after the violence in Nepal, he is again using the language of treason and working to incite public sentiment in India.”

He also alleged that Mr. Raut is trying to incite violence in India, based on the violence in Nepal. “He is playing a crooked trick of making anti-India statements by comparing the violence in Nepal. His role is anti-constitutional and anti-democratic.” For this reason, I request you to register a case at your police station against MP Sanjay Raut,” Mr. Nirupam said in the letter addressed to Versova police station, Senior Police Inspector.
