Mock drills were conducted in six districts of Bihar and five districts of Jharkhand on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) as a civil preparedness measure following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. In Bihar, the drills took place in Patna, Begusarai, Katihar, Purnia, Kishanganj, and Araria, while in Jharkhand, they were conducted in Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Bokaro, Godda, and Sahibganj.
Following the sound of a siren at 6.58 p.m., a total blackout was observed from 7 p.m. to 7.10 p.m. In several districts, mock drills involving the staging of emergency situations were carried out in hospitals and other government buildings.
In the State capital, Patna, a large number of residents gathered at the Dakbungalow roundabout to participate in the mock drill. Several residents, holding the national flag, were heard shouting slogans in support of the Indian Army. In Ranchi, the mock drill was conducted in the Doranda area.

Cutting across party lines, political leaders in Bihar and Jharkhand praised the action of the Indian Armed Forces for launching “Operation Sindoor” in the early hours of Wednesday.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar posted a message on the social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday, stating, “In response to the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, the Indian Army, under “Operation Sindoor” targeted 9 terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The entire nation stands united against terrorism. The courage and valor of the Indian Army fill the whole country with pride. We all have unwavering faith and pride in the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. Jai Hind.”
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav also posted a message on ‘X’, saying, “Those who foster terrorism, if they strike at our unity, integrity, and sovereignty, we know how to unite and deliver a befitting response. In this fight against terrorism, 1.4 billion Indians stand with the Indian Army and the government. Long live Hindustan! Long live the Indian Army! Victory to India!”.
Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) president and former State Minister Mukesh Sahani said that while India has consistently given a message of peace to the world, it has never tolerated terrorism.
“My party stands in support of the bold action of the Indian Army. The whole country was in mourning after the Pahalgam incident. Our party is with the Central government in the decision of any military action. We have attacked the terrorist bases of Pakistan. This is an action against terrorism,” Mr. Sahani stated in a press release.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also extended his full support and praised the armed forces for their action.
