Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath wrote a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director on Thursday (May 8, 2025) seeking a probe into the multi-crore liquor scam that purportedly took place during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime between 2019 and 2024.

He stated that the people of Andhra Pradesh were deeply concerned about the alarming revelations about the liquor scam that amounted to nearly ₹3,600 crore.

There has been growing public outrage and demand for transparency over how such a massive scam involving State resources and public health went unchecked, he noted.

The people have a right to know the truth and see those responsible held accountable regardless of their position or affiliation.

Given the seriousness, magnitude, and inte-State financial implications of the scam, the CBI should take over the case and initiate a thorough and impartial probe.  “A CBI Inquiry will restore public trust and ensure that justice is delivered without influence or bias”, Mr. Sivanath suggested.

Among the main accused in the scam are Rajampet MP P.V. Midhun Reddy, former MP V. Vijaya Sai Reddy and retired IAS officer K. Dhanunjaya Reddy.
