Four persons were killed and three persons seriously injured in a road accident at Guvvala Cheruvu village, C.K. Dinne mandal in Kadapa district on Saturday (May 24). A couple from Bengaluru and two children of their relatives were among the deceased. The accident took place on the Rayachoti-Kadapa stretch of National Highway-40 when a speeding truck hit their car from behind.

According to the police, the victims were going from Bengaluru to their native place Badvel in a car. The truck hit their car while trying to overtake it at 4th turning on NH-40. Due to the negligence of truck driver, four persons in the car died on the spot and three others were injured in the accident. Among the injured, two women and a girl were taken to Kadapa RIMS Hospital for treatment.

The deceased were identified as 34-year-old Srikanth Reddy and his 32-year-old wife Sireesha Reddy, 10-year-old Rishikeshwar Reddy and eight-year-old Harshini Reddy. Rishitha Reddy, daughter of Srikanth, was injured and admitted in the hospital along with two other women relatives. Police officials have taken the truck driver in custody.

A case was filed under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the truck driver.
