Three from Karnataka killed; two hurt after car dives into farm well in Andhra Pradesh’s Piler

Three persons from Karnataka were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling lost control and dived into an unwalled open agriculture well near Kuravapalli village near Piler of Annamayya district on the early hours of Sunday (May 18, 2025.) The victims were identified as natives of Tandur village in the Chintamani revenue division.

According to the police, five persons were travelling from Hosur in Tamil Nadu to Piler after attending to catering work at a wedding function on Saturday night (May 17, 2025). In the early hours of Sunday (May 18, 2025), the car jumped off the road at a high speed and fell into the well. The villagers noticed the accident and alerted the area police.

Two of the inmates, identified as Tippa Reddy and Sunil, managed to escape after breaking a window, but remained trapped inside the well till the rescue operation commenced. The three deceased were identified as Shivanna, Lokesh, and Chalapathi, who were trapped inside the submerged vehicle. The police used a crane to retrieve the bodies and rescue the injured.

The Piler MLA, Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy, expressed sorrow at the death of three persons. The MLA extended financial assistance for the transport of the deceased to their native place. The police registered a case and took up further investigation.
