Man held on charge of murdering mother

The Vattappara police have arrested one man for allegedly stomping his mother to death late Tuesday.

The police identified the deceased as Omana, 85, of Thekkada. She was allegedly murdered by her son Manikandan, who assaulted her in an inebriated state. He allegedly kicked her twice in the head before causing multiple fractures all over her body. Despite being rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital, her life could not be saved.

According to the police, Manikandan used to frequently manhandle his mother. He is suspected to have attacked his mother for refusing to give him money to recover his pawned motorcycle and transferring her properties in his name.
