Mandya police nab two burglars, recover items worth ₹25.63 lakh

The Mandya police on Friday claimed to have solved seven cases of burglary with the arrest of two persons and recovery of stolen goods worth ₹25.63 lakh.

A special team was constituted after receiving a complaint from Puttavenkataiah of Hosadoddi village in Malavalli taluk of Mandya district, who said unidentified persons had broken open the almirah of their house on March 3 and stole 75 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹4.90 lakh.

The police nabbed Syed, 43, a resident of Bangarpet taluk, and Tasleem Pasha, 43, a resident of Bengaluru, and interrogated them.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed to have been involved in three cases registered at the Malavalli Rural police station and one case each at Mandya South, Malavalli Town, Thagathattapura, and Kestur police station.

The recovered items from the accused included a total of 319 grams of gold ornaments, 132 grams of silver ornaments and a vehicle used in the crime. The estimated value of the recovered items was ₹26.63 lakh, the police said.
