Two fresh cases of Covid-19, one each in Faridabad and Karnal, were detected in Haryana on Sunday taking the total number of reported cases in the State this month to twelve. The number of active cases is nine with three patients having discharged. No deaths are reported till date.
As per the latest Health bulletin, Gurugram has reported the highest number of five cases in the State followed by Faridabad (4), Karnal (2) and Yamunanagar (1). Of these, two patients in Faridabad and one in Gurugram have been discharged.
A total of 22 samples were taken on Sunday.
Of the five cases in Gurugram, only a 31-year-old woman working in a private firm had a travel history prior to being infected. She had travelled to Mumbai before being diagnosed with Covid-19. A 88-year-old woman, who was found infected on May 15, was in home isolation in Gurugram and has been discharged. All five patients in Gurugram were vaccinated for Covid.
In Yamunanagar, a 51-year-old housewife was infected with the virus on May 23 and is admitted at Mohali’s Fortis Hospital. She was not vaccinated, as per the health bulletin. She had travelled to Dera Bassi in Punjab before being infected.
Director General, Health Services, Manish Bansal, in a letter to the Civil Surgeons, has asked them to remain “vigilant” and “ensure effective preparedness”. “District Surveillance Unit shall closely follow the trend of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) in the area, monitor the proportion of SARI cases among all ILI and SARI cases, and refer sufficient number of samples for testing as per revised surveillance strategy,” read the letter.
The DG also directed the officials to ensure availability of RTPCR testing kits and sensitise the health staff on the signs, symptoms, management and guidelines for Covid-19.
