PM to visit poll-bound Bihar again on May 29 and 30

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit poll-bound Bihar again on May 29 and 30. This would be Mr. Modi’s third visit this year to Bihar, where the State Assembly election due in October-November.

In his previous visit to Bihar, to Madhubani district on April 24, Mr. Modi had declared that those behind the Pahalgam terror attack would be punished “beyond their imagination”.

On February 24, he visited Bhagalpur to release the 19th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, and addressed a public rally.

Mr. Modi also inaugurated the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna via video conferencing on May 4.

On May 29, the first day of his forthcoming visit, Mr. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Jayparakash Narayan International Airport’s new, integrated terminal building, built at a cost of approximately ₹1,200 crore. Airport officials said the expanded facility will handle nearly three times its current capacity, from about 30 lakh passengers annually to 1 crore passengers annually. In its first phase, the new terminal will have 64 check-in counters, six additional aircraft parking bays, and nine automatic tray retrieval systems at security checkpoints.

This may be followed by a roadshow from Patna airport to the State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters at Beer Chand Patel Road to meet party leaders and workers ahead of the preparations for the Assembly election.

The PM will also to lay the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta airport, about 30 km from the State capital.

After staying overnight at the Raj Bhavan here, the PM is scheduled to address a public rally on May 30 at Bikramganj in Rohtas district, where he may announce developmental projects worth several thousands of crores of rupees for Bihar, State BJP president Dilip Jaiswal said.

On Monday, Mr. Jaiswal visited Bhojpur, a district neighbouring Rohtas, to participate in a meeting in which he appealed to the BJP and other constituent National Democratic Alliance (NDA) party leaders to make the PM’s May 30 rally a “historic” one.

“The Bikramganj rally of PM Modi will definitely consolidate the party’s support base in the Shahabad areas bordering eastern Uttar Pradesh as well,” BJP Rajya Sabha MP Bhim Singh, who hails from Rohtas district, said. “Yes, since the Assembly election in the State is not far away, our top party leadership has been visiting here, and meeting the State party leadership to chalk out strategies to win,” Mr. Singh added.

The State BJP leadership had earlier claimed that, this time, the NDA would win 225 out of the total 243 seats in Assembly election.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi too has been visiting the election-bound State often this year, and is expected to visit again on May 27 to interact with Scheduled Caste (SC) students in central Bihar’s Jehanabad.
