Karnataka Govt transfers holy books burning case to CID

by AutoTrendly

The State Government has transferred the case of alleged burning of holy books, including the Quran and Hadit books stolen from a mosque in Santi Bastawad village in Belagavi district, to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Believers visiting the mosque for prayers found a book shelf ransacked on May 11. The books were found, half-burnt in a field on the outskirts of the village. A few days later, village residents and members of Muslim organisations held a protest in Belagavi demanding action on the accused .

Police commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao told reporters in Belagavi on Sunday (June 1, 2025) that the local investigators would fully cooperate with the CID team. We are confident of tracing and arresting the accused soon, he said.
