A girl aged around 14 years, who went missing from her hometown in Uttar Pradesh mysteriously, was tracked down to a rented house in Kyathasandra police station limits in Tumakuru, in Karnataka, on June 8.
The girl, a native of Malwa in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly ran away with a male friend Shanawaz, who is a construction labourer living in a temporary shed near the toll gate at Kyathasandra. The girl reportedly told the police that her parents had fixed her marriage against her consent, and she decided to ran away.
She sought the help of Shanawaz, who helped her to reach his place.
Meanwhile, her parents filed a missing complaint with the Malwa police .
Based on a tip-off, police raided the shed and rescued the girl. She was sent to a rescue centre managed by an NGO. Police alerted their counterparts in U.P. She was handed over to the U.P. police on June 9 along with Shanawaz.
