Heavy rains cause two deaths in Belagavi

Heavy rains caused two deaths in Belagavi district on Thursday (June 12, 2025) night.

An auto driver was washed away by the torrential rains in Chikkabudanur village near Yaragatti.

He tried to ride his auto over an overflowing stream, but they were swept away. He is presumed dead.

A police and fire and emergency services team is searching for him.

In Chikkanandi village of Gokak taluk, an old woman man died after a mud wall collapsed. Local residents who heard the wall collapse rushed to the house. They managed to pull out

Fakkiravva Haveri (65) and took her to the hospital. Doctors declared her brought dead.

Officers in separate police stations have registered cases.
