Anbumani plans to hold district general council meetings as a ‘show of strength’

With the party’s district general council meetings set to begin in Tiruvallur on Sunday, PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss will use these meetings to send a message to the cadre that he is the sole leader of the party, sources said.

In the context of PMK founder S. Ramadoss claiming that he remains the undisputed leader in the PMK, sources in the party said that these general council meetings would be an opportunity for a show of strength and underline that majority of the party’s office-bearers, cadre, and supporters were with Dr. Anbumani.

“Organising general council meetings at the district level is actually a formality. But, this time round, considering what is happening in the party, the general council meetings will be an opportunity to show that Dr. Anbumani is the only leader of the PMK. He will be given a rousing welcome by the cadre,” said a senior leader.

He added that Dr. Anbumani would not directly hit out at Dr. Ramadoss, who has made serious allegations against him, but will address these in his speech. “Dr. Anbumani will likely sharpen the attack against the DMK, which will eventually end the speculation that the PMK will ally with the AIADMK,” he said.

He will participate in the district general council meetings to be held between June 15-19 for the district units of the PMK in Tiruvallur, Vellore, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Salem, and Dharmapuri districts.
