The Union Government has approved two long-pending projects in Amaravati with a total outlay of ₹2,787 crore, on Tuesday.

Of this, ₹1,329 crore has been allocated for the construction of residential quarters for central government employees, and ₹1,458 crore for building the Common Central Secretariat.

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) will execute the construction of both the projects. Confirming the development to The Hindu, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar explained this as a crucial move to revive Amaravati’s capital development. Once construction is completed, the Central government offices and institutions will begin functioning from the new Secretariat, he added.
