Water release from Maharashtra dams reduces

by AutoTrendly

Following reduced rainfall in parts of Maharashtra, water release from reservoirs in the neighbouring State into the Krishna river reduced slightly on Tuesday.

Water flow measured at Kallol barrage on the inter-State border stood at 70,987 cusecs, 11% less than Monday’s discharge of 79,784 cusecs.

However, water flowing into the Lal Bahadur Shastri Reservoir on the Krishna in Almatti was recorded at 83,426 cusecs, while outflow was 70,000 cusecs.

As much as 76.5 tmcft of water stood at 516.3 m, against the full level of 123 tmcft at 519.6 m. The inflow and outflow are expected to go down in the next few days.

Inflow at Hippargi dam was 77,451 cusecs and outflow 76,701 cusecs. There is no storage in the dam for now. Officers said that water is not being stored as inflow is high and the river is in a free flowing condition.

The Raja Lakhamagouda Reservoir over the Ghataprabha in Hidkal recorded an inflow of 12,856 cusecs, while outflow was 130 cusecs. The dam has 48.9 tmcft of water against the full level of 51 tmcft.

The Renuka Sagar Dam on the Malaprabha recorded 3,436 cusecs of inflow and an outflow of 194 cusecs. It has around 13.4 tmcft of water against the full level of 37 tmcft.
