A group of 30 research scholars attending a 10-day Research Methodology Course (RMC) at the Central University of Kerala (CUK) visited Bekal as part of a field study on tourism development in the region.

The course, financially supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), included ten participants each from the CUK, other universities in the State, and institutions across various States including Uttar Pradesh, Puducherry, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Manipur. The programme was led by C.A. Geeta, course director, Department of Education, CUK.

As part of their visit, the students toured the five-star hotel Gateway Bekal, where general manager Gopala Krishnan spoke to them about the region’s tourism potential. They were also briefed on the history and heritage of Bekal Fort.

Dr. Geeta said a detailed report based on the visit would be submitted to the university. She added that the field study gave scholars a comprehensive understanding of the region’s tourism landscape and that the findings would offer valuable suggestions for the sector’s growth in the future.
