Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-affected Bijapur district on Tuesday (July 8, 2025), said the police.

A police officer said that the IED planted by Maoists went off when a team of CRPF’s 229th battalion was on a Road Security Operation (RSO) between Timapur and Murdanda villages under the Awapalli police station limits of Bijapur.

The two personnel sustained injuries and were administered preliminary treatment and later shifted to the district hospital. A police statement later added that the injured personnel were being shifted to a better health centre in the capital city of Raipur.

Maoists often plant IEDs on dirt tracks to thwart anti-naxal operations inside forests and are difficult to detect. Both security personnel and civilians have fallen prey to such traps laid by ultras in the past in the Bastar region, police said.
