The train service between Chikkamagaluru and Tirupati will be launched on Friday, July 11. The inaugural special train will depart Chikkamagaluru at 12 p.m. on the day and reach Tirupati at 2:30 a.m. the next day, Saturday.
Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, V. Somana, will flag off the train after a programme to mark the occasion at Chikkamagaluru Railway Station.
A press release issued by the South Western Railway on Thursday stated that the Railway Board approved the introduction of the new weekly express train service between Tirupati and Chikkamagaluru to enhance rail connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and the Malnad region of Karnataka. The special train will consist of 18 coaches.
The regular train service will begin next week. Tirupati – Chikkamagaluru Weekly Express (17423) will commence its regular service on July 17, Thursday. Chikkamagaluru – Tirupati Weekly Express (17424) will commence service on July 18, Friday.
The train stops at Pakala, Chittoor, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Kuppam, Bangarapet, Whitefield, Krishnarajapuram, Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru, Chikbanavara, Tumakuru, Tiptur, Arasikere, Devanur, Kadur, Birur, Bisalehalli, and Sakharayapatna.
The coach consists of 18 coaches, including two AC two-tier, four AC three-tier, six sleeper class, four general second class, one second class cum luggage and brake van with a compartment for differently-abled persons and a luggage/generator/brake van coach, said the press release.
