A retired Assistant Engineer B. Venkata Rama Rao (70) was allegedly murdered by caretaker Anusha under NTR Police Commissionerate limits, in the early hours on Friday (July 11, 2025.)
Mr. Rama Rao, who served in the Roads and Buildings Department, was staying with his ninety-year-old mother Saraswathi, in NTR Colony in Vijayawada. The victim engaged Anusha to take care of his mother.
“The accused allegedly smothered her owner Rama Rao to death with a pillow and escaped with cash and some valuables,” said Machavaram Circle Inspector Prakash. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) K. Tirumaleswara Reddy and other police officers visited the spot.
“Police launched a hunt to nab the caretaker. We are investigating whether any others were involved in the crime,” Mr. Prakash told The Hindu.
