Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari stating that he was not informed about the inauguration of the Sigandur bridge and other works in Sagar, scheduled for Monday, and requested him to postpone the programme.
The Chief Minister in his letter dated July 11, which was released from the Chief Ministers’ Office to the media on Sunday, July 13, said, “I have not been intimated about the programme in advance and an inauguration programme of development schemes is already scheduled under my chairmanship in Indi taluk of Vijayapura district on the same day.”
Further, he said it would be appropriate for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to have consulted the State government before finalising the programme. “I request you to postpone the programme and provide me a couple of dates convenient to you so that I would be able to join you,” he added.
However, Mr. Gadkari will be visiting Sagar to take part in the programme. He will be inaugurating the Sigandur bridge, built across Sharavati backwaters, and lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several other projects at a programme to be held at Sagar on Monday. He will be accompanied by Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi and other elected representatives. As per the communique from the Shivamogga district administration, Public Works Minister Sathish Jarkiholi would also be taking part in the event.
