Councillor’s house damaged by group in Tiruchi

by AutoTrendly

A group of persons barged into the house of councillor Malarvizhi Rajendran of the DMK (Ward No. 64) in K.K. Nagar area here and allegedly damaged some household items on Thursday evening triggering tension.

A section of supporters of the councillor, led by her son, blocked the K.K. Nagar-Sathanur road in protest for about 30 minutes warranting police intervention.

Thursday’s attack on the house of the councillor was a result of a quarrel that the councillor and her son allegedly had with a supervisor of a private firm that was given the contract for establishing rainwater harvesting structure in the area.

One of the residents had complained to the councillor that some stone slabs put on his vacant site had tilted because of the ongoing rainwater harvesting structure.

The councillor and her son Anand came to the spot and questioned the supervisor reportedly about the manner in which the work was carried out. The supervisor is said to have conveyed to the councillor that the work was going as per plan. The councillor’s son is alleged to have assaulted and threatened the supervisor who informed the firm owner. Separate complaints have been lodged by both the parties at K.K. Nagar police station.

Sources said the group that barged into the councillor’s house on Thursday damaged an air cooler, window panes, windshield of the car, and a  two-wheeler. A complaint regarding the attack has been preferred in this connection with the K.K. Nagar police by the councillor’s daughter-in-law. The K.K. Nagar police have taken up investigation.
