AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka Randeep Surjewala described Karnataka having the highest per capita income in the country as a result of comprehensive development, especially the implementation of guarantee schemes.

“Karnataka has set a new milestone in economic progress. According to recent data from the Ministry of Finance, the State’s per capita income has increased from ₹1,05,697 in 2014-15 to ₹2,04,605 in 2024-25 — a growth of 93.6%,” Mr. Surjewala said in a release on Wednesday.

Karnataka’s performance far exceeds the national average growth of 57.6%, he noted, called it “a fitting reply to the Opposition’s criticism of our guarantee schemes.”

“Including Gruha Lakshmi, the five guarantee schemes — Shakti, Anna Bhagya, Yuva Nidhi, and Gruha Jyothi — have transferred a combined ₹93,000 crore directly to beneficiary accounts so far,” he said.

“The increase in per capita income and the positive impact of the schemes are clear indicators that Karnataka is not only becoming economically stronger but is also achieving social justice and equity,” he contended.

“The guarantee schemes that are being implemented since 2023 were not introduced for vote-bank politics. They were implemented for all poor people of Karnataka — regardless of caste, class, or gender — with no discrimination. As a result, many have been able to rebuild their lives,” he said. Many beneficiaries are investing the saved money into self-employment, he said,

He further stated that Karnataka’s remarkable economic growth was also powered by the Information Technology (IT) and Biotechnology (BT) sectors. Stable growth in manufacturing, agriculture, and service sectors too had supported the rise in per capita income.

Minister Sharan Prakash Patil and Congress MLC Dinesh Guligowda too, in separate releases, credited the guarantee schemes for the State achieving “a new economic milestone.”
