ARTRAC commemorates 26 years of victory in Kargil War

To commemorate 26 years of victory in the Kargil war, the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at its headquarters in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla on Friday commenced the three-day-long celebrations with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

The commemorative events of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ were inaugurated in a solemn ceremony by Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ARTRAC, Shimla. The events willcontinue till July 27, an official statement said.

A wide array of events and attractions were meticulously organized for the visitors, paying homage to the gallantry and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. The celebrations featured a captivating photo and video exhibition that depicted the valour, heroism and personal stories of the Kargil War heroes, it added.

A felicitation ceremony for Kargil War veterans was held in which these gallant soldiers were honoured in recognition of their valour and selfless service. The proceedings served as a poignant reminder of the supreme sacrifice made by Indian brave soldiers, who, against all odds and in sub-zero temperatures, defended the nation’s sovereignty on the daunting heights of Kargil, said the statement.

The ARTRAC through this event, re-affirmed its resolve to uphold the honour, bravery, and values exemplified by the heroes of Kargil.
