N. Arun was elected as the district secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) at its district conference, which concluded here on Friday (July 25).

He had earlier functioned as the State president of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) and State council member of the CPI.

CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam, assistant secretary P.P. Suneer, national executive member K.P. Rajendran, and Minister J. Chinchurani were among those who spoke.

The meeting elected a 56-member district council and 36 delegates for the State conference.
