The Supreme Court has settled the long-pending Garvebhavipalya Lake case, paving the way for its inclusion under the jurisdiction of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), said Preeti Gehlot, Special Commissioner, Forest, Environment, Climate Change, Elections, and Disaster Management, GBA, in a release.
Garvebhavipalya Lake, located in Survey No. 49 of Hongasandra village, spans approximately 17 acres and 30 guntas. Falling under the Bengaluru South City Corporation, the lake was the subject of a prolonged legal battle.
Bengaluru North Taluk officials recently recovered 15 guntas of encroached land at Kempambudhi Lake, located in Survey No. 0002 of Kempambudhi village. During a boundary survey conducted recently, the encroachment was identified, and authorities have since fenced off the land with barbed wire and restored it to the lake’s protected area, GBA said in a statement.
