Water Resources Department Special Chief Secretary and Ex-Officio Special CS to Chief Minister, G. Sai Prasad will succeed K. Vijayanand as the Chief Secretary of Government of Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Sai Prasad will be the new Chief Secretary, with effect from March 1, 2026, said a Government Order issued on Saturday (November 29, 2025).
Mr. Vijayanand is due to retire from service on attaining the age of superannuation on February 28, 2026. Under Rule 16 (1) of All India Services (Death-Cum- Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958 and as per the approval of the Competent Authority, the State government earlier granted extension of his service for three months after November 30, 2025, i.e. from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
A 1991-batch IAS officer, Mr. Sai Prasad started his career as Warangal Joint Collector in June 1992 and has since served in various capacities. He worked for the Government of India as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Power for more than two years.
