National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Thursday, the Kremlin press service confirmed. A video released showed Doval shaking hands with Putin before their discussions.
Earlier, Doval had held talks with Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
Doval arrived in Moscow on Wednesday to engage in crucial discussions on bilateral energy and defence cooperation, as well as to lay the groundwork for President Putin’s visit to India later this year.
His arrival coincided with US President Donald Trump issuing an executive order imposing an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods as a penalty for purchasing Russian oil, effectively doubling the tariff to 50 per cent.
