US House passes ‘Big Beautiful Bill’; Donald Trump set to sign into law

by AutoTrendly

The US House of Representatives on Thursday (July 3) approved President Donald Trump’s $3.4 trillion tax and spending bill, overcoming unified Democratic opposition and clearing the way for Trump to sign into law.

The legislation, dubbed by Trump as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” passed largely along party lines in the Republican-controlled chamber. The final vote followed nearly nine hours of debate, punctuated by House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ record-setting 8-hour, 46-minute speech condemning the bill as “an all-out assault on hard-working Americans.”

“Shame on this institution if this bill passes,” Jeffries declared from the floor. “This disgusting abomination is not about improving the quality of life of the American people.”

Republicans defended the legislation as a pro-growth package that would deliver tax relief across income levels and boost the economy.

The measure includes significant tax cuts, increased military spending, and deep reductions to social safety-net programs such as Medicaid and food assistance.

Democrats warned the bill would exacerbate inequality while adding trillions to the national debt.
